Videos of Paris

Here are a few videos that caught my attention online while getting ready for our trip to Paris. Above, "A Trip to Paris - A Short Documentary" by Douglas Benge.

This next video is "Notre Dame de Paris" by the World Sites Guide. I love the historical references in this video.

Gabriel Traveler posted "A Tour of Paris: Walking from the Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower". He picked a bright sunny day in the winter to take his walk. I love the music along the way and at the end.

This one is well worth the watch. Rick Steves does a ton of videos all throughout Europe. This "Highlights of Paris: Eiffel and Monet to Creme Brulee" is great. I can hardly wait to try escargot straight from their shells. Thanks Rick!

Hermione Chantal posted this next video of Paris landmarks "10 Things To Do In Paris | Travel Guide". Hermione recounts many of the sites that the other videos here visit. She does mention an underpass to get to the Arc de Triompe so we will not have to dodge all of the circling cars and trucks. Thanks Hermione.

Mark with WoltersWorld.com has many videos on YouTube with plenty of tips on many cities. In his "Visit Paris - What to Know before You Visit Paris, France" video, he says that there is no need to tip at restaurants in Paris, Paris uses two round plugs for electrical outlets, everyone pays in euros, get the new credit cards with the microchips, people in Paris are very nice although servers in Paris restaurants might not be quick to bring the bill so ask for the bill and learn at least a few French phrases. "S'il vous plait" is "please". "Merci" is "thank you". "L'addition, s'il vous plait" is "the bill, please". Lots of great travel tips in this video. Thanks, Mark!

London April 2025

I flew to London for a few short days with my brother (Troy), his girlfriend (Polly) and met up with one of my old college roommates (Howie) while there.  4/18/25 (Friday) I flew from Pensacola (PNS) to Atlanta (ATL) where Troy and Polly were there waiting on me. We were all on the same overnight flight to London and landed at Heathrow (LHR). I do not think I slept any during the flight although this is usually how I fly.  4/19/25 (Saturday) Landing in London at Heathrow Saturday morning, the three of us took trains from Heathrow into London and eventually got off at the Tower Hill Station. We did take a few wrong turns along the way, but not by much. We did not end up in France or anything.  The Tower Hill Station was great for us as it is just a couple of blocks from Tower Hotel where we stayed with a fantastic view of Thames. The elevators need work, but the hotel is great. Stay there any chance you get to London. Get a river view room or even a view of the bridge if o...

Stonehenge, Loch Ness, Hogamany 2019 to 2020

Our 2019/2020 trip to Europe was, of course, an amazing adventure. There were five of us this trip (Troy, Momma, April, Missy and me). We all flew from Montgomery to London (Montgomery-Charlotte-Chicago-London) and the same route on return. This year's trip included London, Stonehenge, Edinburgh, Balintore Castle and Loch Ness. Although we did not find Nessie and April did not get to see enough of London, we had an educational travel experience that none of us will forget. Plus, we have this nifty travel blog to help us remember it by. Here's the story... 12/25/2019 Wednesday Flew from Montgomery to Charlotte to Chicago to London Heathrow (Landed at Heathrow Thursday morning) Momma rode to the airport with me. Troy took his truck separate so that he could land on January 2nd and drive directly to his place in Birmingham. When Momma, Troy and I got to the airport, Missy and April were already there. April had been crying since she got there. Probably even before then....
