Things To Do In London

On our 2018 European Vacation, we will have a couple of days in London. Troy, Momma and I have been to London before. This will be Kayla's first trip to London or any of England, in fact. While all four of us will appreciate seeing Big Ben, the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guard, I am looking for some new sites and happenings to add to this trip. The above picture is from the Sanderson London's Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea. Troy, Momma and I have done afternoon tea in London on our first trip to Europe back in 2015; but it would be great to do it again - traditionally very British. I got the idea from the below video posted by Samuel and Audrey on YouTube.

Another place mentioned in the video above is Neal's Yard off of Seven Dials. It looks colorful and a lot like Harry Potter scenes from London. https://www.sevendials.co.uk/#nogo

Cahoots is also mentioned in Audrey's video for late night drinks. Not sure if our mother will stay up this late, but Troy and Kayla might go with me around midnight. https://cahoots-london.com/

And yet anther great tip from Audrey - the Duck & Waffle - on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower. Great for food, drinks and view. Audrey, thank you for some great tips.

Gary Bembridge shared some great tips for free things to see and do in London in his Tips for Travellers video including the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, Millenium Bridge, British Museum, Hyde Park, Museum Row and Harrod's. I think we will try to fit some of these into our trip next month. Thanks, Gary, for some great pointers.

I'll be adding more to this list and we will see how many of these we all get to see over the last week of this year. Wish me luck!

I just caught this video on YouTube by Yellow Productions, "10 Best Free Things To Do in London". The tip about the Sky Garden Observatory and booking your visit online being required is pretty good to know. I'm trying to book mine now at https://skygarden.london/sky-garden but having trouble getting the calendar to scroll to the next month. I think it would be great for us to do this in late December.

This next video on Insider, "Why These Dining Pods in London Get 9,000 Bookings in a Day", looks interesting. These pods/igloos are right on the river and very close to the Tower Bridge. I did try just now to make a booking online at http://www.coppaclub.co.uk/towerbridge/, but the igloos were not available on the day I selected. The video says they keep two walk-up igloos so maybe we will try our luck the day we go to see the Tower Bridge.

On the first, we took a train back to London. This was a very relaxing train ride back during the day. This is the table in the Moxy Hotel lobby where we had dinner and then all went to bed. The Louvre and the Petit Palais

Saturday 12/29/2018 The Louvre and the Petit Palais The nightclub on the barge across the river from our hotel parties all night long - all the way through 8am. We did not get much rest. After another 30 euro breakfast, we walked up to the subway station for a taxi to the Louvre. It was a good weather day and there was a long, long line waiting to get into the Louvre. Luckily, I knew about the secret entrance on the side. We walked over to the side entrance. Momma and Troy and Kayla doubted me, but there was an open door and no wait when we got there. It was incredible! If you are facing the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel with the Pyramids behind you, walk past the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel to the far left buildings of the Louvre - Easy Entrance! Tell them Noah sent you! We did not see even a quarter of the Louvre, but we did see the Mona Lis a (we could not believe that the museum does not control traffic flow in that room), the Winged Victory of Samothrace . the Venus di Milo
